Battle Report 3

Narrative

The seers of the Eldar have been monitoring the events as they unfold in the Altimer system. The Space Wolves are moving rapidly to establish a foot hold on Kor, and the Eldar wish to assist in that particular fate. If the Altimer system is to become a stalemate of a conflict, the Space Wolves must be able to make initial progress, not just be repelled by the Tau defenders. As the Space Wolves press toward the primary military fortress near their landing zone, the Tau forces are mustering on a nearby airfield to reinforce the area. A small Eldar force, joined by Maugan Ra, is moving to strike the airfield in an attempt to disrupt the reinforcements.

Game Notes

This Scenario used two special rules. The first is Special Orders, which means that the Tactical Objectives for each player are kept secret, only revealed when they are achieved. The second is Cover of Darkness, which causes a -1 penalty to all shooting attacks beyond 18".

We fell short on time, and were not able to play this game to completion. In the final turn that we played, however, a very appropriate event occurred that gave us a good narrative reason to call it complete. The Eldar successfully completed the Kingslayer tactical objective, so it was easy to imagine that the Eldar seers foresaw that this Tau commander would play a significant role in the upcoming battle. Post-battle, we decided that this must have been the objective of the assault.

As we did not play this game to completion, we did not award victory points for Linebreaker.
